Prairie Express buses operate on a fixed route and schedule. However, we also provide Route-Deviation Service Monday through Friday within the Sterling area in which we are able to accommodate demand-response trips.

All fares are for one-way travel.

Passes
Unlimited Monthly Pass – $20 (Monthly passes go on sale the last day of each month)
Punch cards – $10 for 10 rides.
Request a Route Deviation
Residents in the Sterling area can request the bus to pick-up or drop off at a specific location, not on the advertised route, and at a slightly higher cost to the rider. The bus will leave and return at the same location from the scheduled route. This ensures that all riders who are waiting for the bus will still be accommodated.

Service Animal Policy
Service Animals Riders may travel on County Express with a service animal. Please advise Dispatch when you are scheduling your ride. The following rules must be abided by:
1. You must maintain control of your animal and it may not sit on the seats.
2. The animal cannot be aggressive.
3. You are responsible for any damage or soiling cause by the animal.
4. The animal stays with the passenger at all times.
How to Ride
- Select your stops. The map shows the route where stops are located.
- Check the time schedule.
- Wait at the designated bus stop. The bus stops are clearly marked.
- Board the bus after other passengers have exited. If you have difficulty boarding, ask the bus driver for assistance.
- Pay your fare when you board. Drivers do not carry cash and cannot make change. Please have the exact fare ready when boarding.
- Signal to exit the bus. Please advise the driver of your destination. Please remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
Rider Etiquette
A pleasant riding experience for all of our patrons is what we strive for. We respectfully request that you follow these etiquette guidelines to meet that goal:
- Be ready for your ride early
- Pets are not allowed unless they are service animals. Please refer to our service animal policy.
- No eating or drinking allowed
- No use of tobacco products allowed
- No obscene or foul language
- Personal radios/CD players must be turned off or used with headphones
- Children must be removed from strollers before boarding
- Seat belts are provided for your safety. We encourage their use
- Seat belts are required on County Express
- Please respect priority seating areas for seniors and persons with disabilities
- Please report suspicious objects or behaviors
- Please ask the drivers if you have any questions. We are here always happy to help!
